Brush Fire Spreads To Norwich Home; Red Flag Warning Issued For All CT

A small brush fire in Connecticut spread to a home in New London County in the very early morning of Saturday, Nov. 9, authorities said. The blaze comes as firefighters across the state have warned residents about dry conditions turning the landscape into a tinderbox.

Firefighters were called to a home at 90 North St. in Norwich just after 1 a.m. when a brush fire leaped onto the house, authorities said.

Smoke filled the home and flames damaged the outside of the house, but Norwich firefighters were able to get the family outside and put out the blaze before it caused any structural damage, authorities continued.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the conflagration and ask anyone with information on how it began to contact the Norwich Fire or Norwich Police Departments.

Connecticut remained under a Red Flag warning on Saturday, Nov. 9, as windy and dry conditions remain an issue for the region.
